PLEASE HELP!

RDF Media are in the pre-poduction stages of their new ITV Antiques show and are currently in search of new experts!

The show will be hosted by David Dickinson and filmed at auction houses around the country. We will film a Dealers’ Day a couple of weeks in advance of the actual auction. This will be heavily advertised in the local and national press in order to attract members of the public who think they might have something valuable to sell.

We are looking for a pool of dealers with colourful characters and good all-round knowledge of the antiques trade, who will be available on the Dealers’ Day to assess our contributors’ items, and hopefully offer them a cash price.

David Dickinson will act as mediator, sometimes on the side of the contributors, sometimes on the side of the dealers. What we want is some good banter and a fair amount of tension too. This programme aims to reflect the antiques trade at a more grass roots level than other antiques programmes have done in the past. It will also have a stronger element of risk – the punters can choose to accept the offer, or see how they fare in the auction a few weeks later.

We want our dealers to be out there working day-in day-out in the trade, to have the gift of the gab, possibly be self-taught experts or the latest in a family line of dealers. They will have to be expert persuaders, explaining to the contributors why they would be sensible to take their offer and having a good all-round knowledge.

We will be looking for four or five dealers from each area, and they would be paid a fee for the day, but we would be expecting them to be prepared to put their own cash on the line if the items are worth it!

What’s in it for the dealers?!

· Getting first choice on the items brought in by our contributors and the chance to buy them for cash on the day.

· A major local and national press & radio advertising campaign prior to the event.

· Great exposure on a network TV programme. We’re looking for the stars of the future. Dealers who come across well will be invited to take part in several shows and beyond.

· We would expect to attract a lot of interest from the public at these events and raise the profile of the dealers.

What are we asking for?

· A one-day commitment on our Dealers’ Day, which will be held at a site close to the auction house we will return to a fortnight later.

· The gift of the gab combined with a good general knowledge of antiques.

· On-camera involvement with David Dickinson to discuss the lots the public are hoping to sell, and what they’re worth.

· A willingness to put in their own cash to buy any items of interest. We are hoping to find things that will be worth between £100 and £2,000.

If you still think this is something you would like to be involved with or if you know of anybody who you think might be suitable, or if you any queries please do not hesitate to contact me on 0117 9858728/07866 262 911 or email ben.hewish@rdfmedia.com for more info.

Many thanks,

Ben Hewish- Researcher RDF Media[/b]
